Empire Vintage

Extravagant yet homely, worldly yet personal... Empire Vintage must be one of the most beautifully stocked stores in the world. Ultra fine attention to choosing the right item for display is what makes a space memorable, and we are sure you will agree that the nail has been struck perfectly on the head here.
From lingerie to teacups, Empire Vintage is style to the very bones.
Fox says- "Oh the glory of an almost complete dinner set (What's the story? Where's the missing piece? Mystery and drama!), give me a worn Victorian fork any day. None of this newfangled lifeless shine!"
Pearl says- "I'm moving in tomorrow. Put the Nouveau kettle on."

Ornamental Wonderland- Liz McGrath

Elizabeth McGrath's artwork is something to behold... highly decorative in nature and drawing from many inspirations and experiences. Mixed media, paintings and drawings, dolls and sculpture and seemingly everything in between make her world a place worth seeing.
With a vast list of exhibitions and publications to her name, McGrath is the talk of the town in the circles that count. We hope to bring you more from this super skilled and amazing artisan in the future!
Fox says- "This work is extraordinary. Simple as that. Attention to detail is insane, and if you can get your hands on an item I suggest you bury it with you. I would if I could."
Pearl says- "Rarely an artwork makes me stop and care longer than a wink... but this! This makes me want to find out everything I can about it! I want it where I can look at it every day... every moment! I want it! I want two of it. Half of it, just SOME of it! A-hem."

Fox says- "Almost makes you want to end your days strangled by your pantihose, doesn't it?"
Pearl says- "As long as I can find a pair of those shoesies before I do, I won't care what happens to anyone. One of those in my handbag would be better than mace."

Fox says- "Pearl, this one's for you."
Pearl says- "No, this one is for EVERYBODY! We should start a club where all members must wear the urchin ring and anyone with impeccable taste will see us a mile away. Simply stunning."

Ta-Da!

Here we are, Fox and Pearl, presenting our finds and fancies to enchanted readers for the first time!

Above and for our first show'n'tell is work by the wonderful French illustrator Barbara Canepa http://canepabarbara.blogspot.com/ a mistress of tone and linework, and fellow artist Joshua Middleton.
Fox says- "Ah, the carnival. Such a tried and tested topic from generations past. A bit creepy, a bit vintage, a bit used up. Luckily Canepa doesn't make a mockery of it, and manages a somewhat genuine milleu. Perfectly executed."
Pearl says- "I am surprised by the mix of different cartoonish characters in this work, but for the intent being mysterious, what a splendid thing!"
